East Midlands Regional Championships 2012

The competition was held in Leicester at new college.

The competition is split into two halves. In the morning session the in age gymnasts were competing for a place in the top four to go through to the Nation age group finals in November at Guildford. In the afternoon session the out of age level 3, 2 and senior gymnasts were competing to see who would be Regional champion overall and on each apparatus.

Hinckley & Burbage had one gymnast in the morning competition Laura Kaletha entered into level 3 age 10 years. Laura did an amazing job not only qualifying in the top four getting her place in the East Midlands team but she won overall. Laura qualified for the team last year down in fourth position so she has done a fantastic job getting the top spot this year.

In the afternoon Hinckley & Burbage had six girls entered into level 3 and level 2 events. What a brilliant afternoon for the club we managed to get two more Regional champions Charlotte Law at level 2 and Millie Tye at level 3  13 years+ Charlotte Hancock was in third place which was great after moving up a level after winning level 4 last year. On the apparatus Charlotte Law nearly had a full house of gold medals. She won Vault, Beam, and Floor and was second on Bars.  Beth Childs in the same event got second place on Floor. Millie Tye won gold on Bars and Beam, Leah Parking won silver on Vault and Charlotte Hancock won silver on beam.

It was a great achievement for the club to have so much success at this Regional event. We must all wish Laura Kaletha well for the National finals in November.  We would like to thank all the gymnasts for performing their best making the club proud of them all regardless of the results. A big thank you must be made to the coaching staff as without their commitment and dedication none of this would have happened.
